UPDATE ON SOCIAL HALL WORK:

SLOWLY AND SURELY WINS THE DAY

November 8, 2009

Renovations to our Parish Hall
We are taking step by step, but we are on the move with continued improvements to the Parish Social Hall.

All Saints Parade
Sister Helen had a school assembly in the Parish Hall. The assembly featured our little saints from the first grade.
This was made possible because of a donation of 300+ beautiful and comfortable chairs from Villanova University.

Kitchenette
Small, but most useful, completion is near in the Parish Hall for a small kitchen with a typical house electric range, refrigerator, sink and counter space.

Painted
The Parish Hall has been freshly painted.

These improvements and renovations are possible only because of you.  God bless you.  Father Gerlach.

=======================================

In March of 2009, we broke ground in the social hall for two institutional restrooms.  Through multiple efforts of parish volunteers, our first ever all class alumni and Miller Mechanical Company, the restrooms are near completion.

Now painted, the social hall is be available for rental and parish community events.  On two Saturdays, in August wedding rceptions were hosted in our Parish Hall.  Each family has hired their own caterer.

I believe the social hall will mark a convenient place to gather, strengthening our faith community and our families.  Thank you to everyone involved in transforming our social hall into an inviting place for parish gatherings.

The Dedication Plaque in the Lower Church Provides Historic Interest

Monsignor Malone has gratiously provided us with this translation from the Latin text:

Denis Cardinal Dougherty, Archbishop of Philadelphia, installed the cornerstone of this church, that is dedicated to the Glory of God and the honor of Saint Laurence the Martyr, on the 16th day after the Kalends of February (i.e., February 1) A.D. 1926, in the presence of a large group of festive clergy and people.  Pope Pius XI was gloriously reigning, Calvin Coolidge was President of the Republic, Clifford Pinchot was Governor of the State of Pennsylvania, Freeland Kendrick was the mayor of Philadelphia, and Father Maurice Cowl was the pastor of the new church.
